Course Overview
The “Master up to 24 metres (Near Coastal)” course, formerly known as “Master 5”, empowers you to captain a marine vessel up to 24 metres long within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Additionally, this qualification enables you to serve as Chief Mate or Deck Watch Keeper on ships less than 35 metres in the EEZ. This course provides the hands-on experience essential for enhancing your skills and ensuring long-term success in the maritime field.
This course is designed for students who have achieved 80% of the AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) sea time requirements for Master up to 24 Meters NC Certificate of Competency.

Entry Requirements:
To ensure you have the right skills and support to succeed in your course, a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) evaluation helps identify any areas where you may require additional support to help you achieve your goals.
You will also be required to hold at least 80% of the AMSA sea service requirements. Refer to the M24 Entry Requirements Info Sheet for further details on sea service requirements and submitting evidence. Due to the physical requirements of this qualification, the Learner must be physically fit.
